Incorporate your Stout campus photos into a published book cover!

Need Help with University Fact Book Cover

The Budget, Planning and Analysis Office is looking for help with designing the University Fact Book cover for next year’s publication.  For reference, a few past Fact Books can be found under “Electronic Fact Book” heading (not “Facts About UW-Stout”) at:

If cover is selected, name will be included in publication and a hard copy of published Fact Book provided for portfolio.  Any questions can be directed to Sally at bossharts@uwstout.edu .

In the past, we’ve rotated each year between one picture and several pictures on the cover.  Since last year’s cover included only one picture, this year we’d like to have multiple pictures on the cover.  Other information/criteria that would need to be included:

·         Title:  “Fact Book”
·         Year:  “2009-2010”
·         Office title:  “Office of Budget, Planning and Analysis”
·         Stout Polytechnic Logo
·         Malcolm Baldrige Logo
·         Pictures (300 dpi resolution) should include multiple topics such as:  diversity, sports, academics, student life
·         Size of cover:  Width - 8.5 inches
                       Height – 6 inches
·         Deadline:  Friday, April 30th or any time before.  Submissions after this date will not be accepted.
·         Submit to:  Sally Bosshart at bossharts@uwstout.edu or campus address - 210 Administration Building

If cover is selected, name will be included in publication and a hard copy of published Fact Book provided for portfolio.  Any questions can be directed to Sally at bossharts@uwstout.edu .

Job Opening at the UW-Stout Library

The library has a position open!
They have a significant amount of AV equipment that they check out and are looking for someone who has a level of comfort with camera and video equipment to provide assistance to their patrons.
Here are their specs:
Applicants must have a work study allocation.
The job includes shelving, working at the Circulation desk, working in the Reference area and at the Periodicals desk on second floor and then, perhaps, student management. Student managers are in charge of the library when full time staff is not in the building. We hope that our students aspire to student manager positions.
Pay begins at $7.35 per hour and increases with each new area mastered.
We need a commitment of at least 4 semesters due to the extensive training.
To apply, please go to the library’s homepage. Under Request Forms you will find the job application form. Please fill it out and include your current schedule. Please only put an X in the boxes that you have class,  other school commitments or another job. Turn it in at the Circulation desk in the library.

Summer Photography Course in Scotland

UW-Stout is offering a Photojournalism course abroad this summer in SCOTLAND!!  I attended this 3-week trip two summers ago and had the time of my life.  I would definitely recommend the class to anyone in the photo minor at Stout, or anyone who has been wanting to study abroad and is interested in photography.
While in Scotland we stayed at Dalkeith Palace, went on a backpackers trip to the Highlands and the Isle of Skye, swam in Loch Ness, climbed to the peak of a mountain, and took a 4 day trip to Ireland as well.  There was some absolutely breathtaking scenery and opportunities to meet lots of amazing people. It seriously will be an awesome experience.
To hear more about the trip and what we did, you can talk to Jason Abrahamson or me (Staci Paul).
If you're interested, email Pete Schlosser, the instructor of this course, and visit the course description to find out more information.
Here are just a few of the sights I captured while on the trip in 2008:

Fall Photography Trip

The fall photo trip was a great success!  Fifteen students were able to travel to the St. Croix area to take in some beautiful scenery and fall colors.  We first travelled to Stillwater, a pristine river town with classic shops, parks and an awesome lift bridge.  After that we stopped in Marine on the St. Croix, a small town with a waterfall and an old rustic cabin.  Then we visited Osceola and got some amazing experience with long exposures while photographing its large waterfall.  Finally, we stopped in Taylor's Falls and watched the sun set over vast natural potholes and colorful autumn leaves along the St. Croix River.  It was an amazing experience and I think everyone will agree it was a great time.
Here is a fun shot of the group at the park in Taylor's Falls:
